Tips

  • Walk-ins are not allowed, please purchase tickets online at least 30 minutes in advance.
  • Please arrive no more than 15 minutes earlier or 5 minutes later than your scheduled time. Time is built in to visit the family museum, wash your hands, and/or use the restroom before beginning.
  • Expect to be on our premises for up to 2 hours. While you are only inside of the room for around 1 hour, this includes time to view the museum and get acquainted with the story before entering the room.
  • Visibly intoxicated guests will not be permitted entry, and will not receive a refund. If you’ve had too much to drink, you may not have the ability to solve the puzzles.
  • Escape My Room is not explicitly designed for children, but we’ve seen children of all ages enjoy our escape rooms and participate in surprising ways. All ages are allowed in any of our rooms as long as they are accompanied by at least one adult. Any child over the age of 2 must have a valid ticket.
  • You may find it helpful to bring your reading glasses.

Can I add more people to my private room booking?

Yes, you can bring more people as long as the total number of people do not exceed the maximum number of guests for that room. Additional guests will have to pay a fee of $28 on arrival which is the same as it would have cost if you purchased it in advance.

How many people can the room hold? Can we bring an extra person?

Each escape room holds a different amount of guests. The guest count is based on the physical size of the room and the amount of puzzles. We do not allow groups to bring more than the maximum number of guests for each room.

Will I actually be locked in the room?

The door you enter will always remain unlocked for safety reasons. You are free to leave and return to the room if necessary.

Is the room scary?

In general, our rooms are not designed to be scary. Read the section “How to Choose” for a look at how the intensity compares across the rooms. The level of intensity from least to most is as follows: Mardi Gras Study, Jazz Parlor, Inventor’s Attic, Smugglers Den (played mostly in the dark).

Is the room kid-friendly?

Escape My Room is not explicitly designed for children, but we’ve seen children of all ages enjoy our escape rooms and participate in surprising ways. All ages are allowed in any of our rooms as long as they are accompanied by at least one adult. Any child over the age of 2 must have a valid ticket.

Is the subject matter appropriate for kids?

If Escape My Room was a movie, we think it would get a PG rating. New Orleans is a city that has a dark history—slavery, prostitution, the mafia, and horrific disasters. Some of those topics may be present in the story of the rooms. If you have a specific concern, please write to us directly, and we’ll do our best to answer your question.

Will there be other people in the room?

No, only one person is allowed to buy tickets for a timeslot, and the room is private by default.

What is the minimum number of people you recommend?

Two people have successfully solved each of our rooms in under an hour, but we recommend between 3 and 4 guests for the best experience. Within most rooms, it’s physically impossible to complete the room with one person, please contact us prior to booking.

Can I eat or drink in the rooms?

Unless medically necessary, we do not allow food or drinks into the rooms because the artifacts could get damaged.

Is the room handicapped-accessible?

Yes, though choosing the right room may depend on the specific needs of your group and the individuals in it. Please write to us at info@escapemyroom.com to discuss your specific situation before booking so we can make proper accommodations.

What if I don’t escape after an hour?

If you do not escape after one hour, your host will enter the room and show you the clues you missed. Only around 30% of groups escape on time, so don’t feel discouraged if you don’t escape.

Is photography allowed?

Photography is allowed and encouraged in the waiting room, but not in the escape rooms in order to protect the integrity of the puzzles and the privacy of the DeLaporte family.

What if I run late?

Escape My Room runs on a tight schedule which requires that participants arrive on time. In order to take advantage of everything Escape My Room has to offer, including visiting the DeLaporte Family Museum and Parlor. Please do not arrive more than 15 minutes early or 5 minutes late to ensure the safety of our staff and guests.

Can I get a refund?

All ticket sales are final, and we generally do not give refunds. If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, you should not visit us. Rest assured, you can contact us immediately if you are sick or have been exposed and we will reschedule your booking or issue you a full refund.

Can I revisit the same room?

You’re welcome to replay a room, but it may not be as fun as playing a different room if you already know many of the solutions.

Are you able to host a group larger than 8?

Absolutely! Contact us at booking@escapemyroom.com so that we can customize your group experience.

Why is the Jazz Parlor scheduled every 30 minutes? Does that mean it only lasts for 30 minutes?

The Jazz Parlor lasts for up to 60 minutes. It's such a popular room that we have 2 of them now! We stagger the schedule so you can have the best experience. If you have a very large group and would like to schedule a duel between two teams at the same time, contact our group booking specialist.

Are gift cards available for purchase?

Gift cards can be purchased online, and include a graphic which can be printed easily at home.
